Serena Maria Dicks is a British-Cypriot ceramic artist based in London. Her practice

centers on tracing her Cypriot heritage, influenced by artifacts and sites of antiquity. Her

works coalesce the gestural and the geometric through the interplay of surface and form.

She disrupts traditional surface applications inherent to Cypriot ceramic craft, adopting gestural manipulation as an act of mark-making. Through these qualities, Serena’s works offer a resonance of nostos (homecoming in Greek) whilst tracing the legacy of Cypriot folk ceramic culture.

Serena Maria Dicks is a graduate of the Royal College of Art (2024), supported by the

Märit Rausing Scholarship in Ceramics and Glass. Prior to this, she completed her BA

(Hons) in Ceramics at University of the Creative Arts, Farnham. She has previously been a

member of the International Society for Ceramic Art Exchange and Education; in the UK,

2016, and South Korea in 2018. She has exhibited her work in the UK and internationally.
