‘Tracing the Maker’s Mark’ series evolved from Serena’s time spent living in Cyprus: collating visual experiences of village aesthetics, culture and traditional craft. They intertwine vivacious colour, fluid delineations and corporeal likeness.  Each piece has been handcrafted, using traditional coiling yet leaving the maker’s trace, lending a suppleness to the body.

From these vessels, the standing slabs emerged as a more dynamic collage of colour, pattern and textures of Cypriot culture that materialised through Serena’s research in her ancestral homeland.

These works were handcrafted in Cyprus.

Paperclay: coloured porcelain, porcelain and terracotta. Hand-painted with underglaze.
